In September 2017, Deere & Company signed a definitive agreement to acquire Blue River Technology, which is based in Sunnyvale, California and is a leader in applying machine learning to agriculture. Blue River has designed and integrated computer vision and machine learning technology that will enable growers to reduce the use of herbicides by spraying only where weeds are present, optimizing the use of inputs in farming.[43]
John Deere may be out of touch, but it’s not alone. Other corporations, including trade groups representing nearly every major automaker, made the same case to the Copyright Office again and again. It’s worth noting Tesla Motors didn’t join automakers in this argument, even though its cars rely heavily on proprietary software.

It doesn’t have to be. Tell the Copyright Office to side with consumers when it decides which gadgets are legal to modify and repair. Safety- Entrapment hazards can happen to operators when they try to maneuver levers and controls from outside the skid loader’s protective frame, or from misunderstandings in communication between the operator and helpers. Many arms, hands, legs and feet have had to be amputated because of a crushing injury occurring when the bucket or lift arms move unexpectedly. Always ensure the following:

The wheels on a skid steer typically have no steering mechanism, they are in a fixed, straight line relative to the body of the machine.  By turning the left and right wheel pairs at different speeds, the machine turns by skidding, or dragging its wheels across the ground.  The rigid frame and strong wheel bearings prevent the torsional forces caused by this dragging motion from damaging the machine.  This skidding motion tears up the ground on which the machine operates.

If you’ve ever worked in the business, you hate those calls for a couple of reasons. First, it takes a huge amount of time to get a number. Piecing together a loader is extremely complicated because many times there are exceptions noted where aftermarket loaders won’t fit the tractor. In other words, if the tractor came equipped with the largest tires available, or it has a belly mower, it may not fit. If you don’t read all the exceptions you can get burned badly, special a loader that won’t fit the tractor and everyone is mad at you. There’s a little risk for the dealer.
As of 2018, Deere & Company employed about 67,000 people worldwide, of which half are in the United States and Canada, and is the largest agriculture machinery company in the world. In August 2014, the company announced it was indefinitely laying off 600 of its workers at plants in Illinois, Iowa, and Kansas due to less demand for its products.[38] Inside the United States, the company’s primary locations are its administrative center in Moline, Illinois, and manufacturing factories in central and southeastern United States.[39] As of 2016, the company experiments with an electric farm tractor.[40]
Excavators typically feature a boom and arm, equipped with a bucket attachment that is used for digging. Skid steers are otherwise known as skid loaders or compact loaders. A skid steer is a versatile and compact four wheel drive loader, available in wheeled or tracked models. The skid steer’s bucket can be detached and replaced by a large range of other attachments, which are powered by the vehicle’s hydraulic system, allowing it to fulfil a number of applications in a variety of locations, a fact well worth bearing in mind when looking for a used skid steer for sale. Here you can find wide selection of used skid steer loaders from international second hand markets. Select used skidsteers models and compare specs and prices, and choose the used skid steer for you! Large loaders, such as the Kawasaki 95ZV-2, John Deere 844K, Caterpillar 950H, Volvo L120E, Case 921E, or Hitachi ZW310 usually have only a front bucket and are called front loaders, whereas small loader tractors are often also equipped with a small backhoe and are called backhoe loaders or loader backhoes or JCBs, after the company that first claimed to have invented them. Other companies like CASE in America and Whitlock in the UK had been manufacturing excavator loaders well before JCB.

Loaders, too, are different compared to backhoes. While the process of moving dirt is very similar, loaders are often articulated while backhoes are normally one solid unit. Articulated requires different driving skills and maneuvering can be tricky if you haven’t had any experience.
Skid-steer loaders are typically four-wheel vehicles with the wheels mechanically locked in synchronization on each side, and where the left-side drive wheels can be driven independently of the right-side drive wheels. The wheels typically have no separate steering mechanism and hold a fixed straight alignment on the body of the machine. Turning is accomplished by differential steering, in which the left and right wheel pairs are operated at different speeds, and the machine turns by skidding or dragging its fixed-orientation wheels across the ground. The extremely rigid frame and strong wheel bearings prevent the torsional forces caused by this dragging motion from damaging the machine. As with tracked vehicles, the high ground friction produced by skid steers can rip up soft or fragile road surfaces. They can be converted to low ground friction by using specially designed wheels such as the Mecanum wheel. Skid-steer loaders are capable of zero-radius, “pirouette” turning, which makes them extremely maneuverable and valuable for applications that require a compact, agile loader. Skid-steer loaders are sometimes equipped with tracks instead of the wheels, and such a vehicle is known as a multi-terrain loader.

J.C. Bamford Excavators Limited, universally known as JCB, is an English multinational corporation, with headquarters in Rocester, Staffordshire, manufacturing equipment for construction, agriculture, waste handling and demolition. It produces over 300 types of machines, including diggers (backhoes), excavators, tractors and diesel engines. It has 22 factories across Asia, Europe, North America, and South America; its products are sold in over 150 countries.[2][3]

In 1978, the Loadall machine was introduced. The next year, JCB started its operation in India. In 1991, the firm entered a joint venture with Sumitomo of Japan to produce excavators, which ended in 1998.[7] Two years later, a JCB factory was completed in Pooler near Savannah, Georgia in the USA, and the next year a factory was opened in Brazil.

Wheeled loading shovels and articulated dump trucks are also produced.
Oil changes suck. They’re messy and time-consuming, and as a result, many people just avoid doing them, to the detriment of their machine’s longevity. John Deere (you know, the green-and-yellow trucker-hat brand) thinks it has a solution to this, for lawn tractors at least, with its Easy Change 30-second oil change system.

A front-end loader is only as powerful and dependable as its hydraulic cylinders. Large diameter cylinder rods and thick chrome plating complement the longevity of the cylinder life. Larger diameter lift and bucket cylinders provide a higher lift capacity and stronger rollback power which is particularly important for bale spear application for mid-sized loaders because the weight is so far forward.
In April 2006, JCB announced that they were developing a Diesel-powered Land Speed Record vehicle known as the ‘JCB Dieselmax’. The car is powered by two modified JCB 444 diesel powerplants using a two-stage turbocharger to generate 750 bhp, one engine driving the front wheels and the other the rear wheels.

In a particularly spectacular display of corporate delusion, John Deere—the world’s largest agricultural machinery maker —told the Copyright Office that farmers don’t own their tractors. Because computer code snakes through the DNA of modern tractors, farmers receive “an implied license for the life of the vehicle to operate the vehicle.”
“The bad part is, my sense is, these companies are just locking up this technology, and increasing the sort of monopoly pricing structure that just doesn’t work for us,” Brian Talley, a farmer on California’s central coast, says of restrictions placed on his equipment. I toured his farm with a fellow from the Intellectual Property & Technology Law Clinic so we could tell the Copyright Office how manufacturers are hampering farmers. “We are used to operating independently, and that’s one of the great things about being a farmer. And in this particular space, they are really taking that away from us.”

Founded in February 1890 by Gonshiro Kubota in Osaka as the Oide foundry (大出鋳造所, Ōide Chūzō-jo), the business changed name in 1897 and became the Kubota ironwork (久保田鉄工所, Kubota tekkō-jo) working on pipes, taps, and fire fight materials. Twenty years later, production moved to a new plant in Amagasaki in the Hyōgo prefecture.

In the 1962 Illinois Manufacturers Directory (50th anniversary edition), John Deere, listed as Deere and Company, claimed a total work force of 35,000, of which 9,000 were in Illinois. The corporate headquarters were located at 1325 Third Ave. in Moline, Illinois, with six manufacturing plants located around that city and a seventh plant in Hoopston, Illinois. There are two main types of “Control” configuration generally use in excavators to control the boom and bucket, both of which spread the four main digging controls between two x-y joysticks. This allows a skilled operator to control all four functions simultaneously. The most popular configuration in the US is the SAE controls configuration while in other parts of the world, the ISO control configuration is more common. Some manufacturers such as Takeuchi have switches that the operator to select which control configuration to use.

Other automakers pointed out that owners who make unsanctioned modifications could alter their vehicles in bad ways. They could tweak them to go faster. Or change engine parameters to run afoul of emissions regulations.
It’s usually possible to hire an operator at the same time and place that you rent the excavator. Expect to pay an extra $20 to $50 an hour for this service. Be aware that some companies simply include the operator in the rental price, however. Excavators are usually delivered to the construction site by the rental company. Moving the equipment usually costs an average of $3 a mile, computed from the rental company warehouse to the construction site.

In the fall of 1996, a 51-year-old Iowa farmwife was killed while helping her husband and son build a new home on their farm. The woman and her 21-year-old son were standing next to the exterior foundation of the home covering drainage tubing with gravel. The woman was holding down the tile with her feet while her son was shoveling gravel out of a partially-filled front end loader bucket on a tractor his father was driving. The edge of the bucket was approximately three feet from the foundation wall when this work began. The father had the tractor in gear with the clutch pushed in, and his foot on the brakes, sitting on a slope of about 18 degrees downwards towards the house foundation. When he began to raise the bucket, suddenly the farmer heard his son yell at him and realized the tractor was creeping forward towards the foundation despite his pressure on the brakes. He saw his son being pinned to the wall with his back towards the tractor, then realized that his wife was also being pinned to the wall with the other corner of the bucket. He immediately put the tractor in reverse and backed off, at which time both his wife and son fell to the ground. The son received only minor injuries to his back, but the farmer’s wife was killed instantly from internal vascular rupture.

Abram Dietrich Thiessen of Eyebrow Saskatchewan in the 1940s built the first quick attach front end loader. International Harvester’s took a picture of the loader and replicated it at the Regina Agribition in November of the same year.
The first three-wheeled, front-end loader was invented by brothers Cyril and Louis Keller in Rothsay, Minnesota, in 1957.[2] The Kellers built the loader to help a farmer, Eddie Velo, mechanize the process of cleaning turkey manure from his barn. The light and compact machine, with its rear caster wheel, was able to turn around within its own length, while performing the same tasks as a conventional front-end loader.[2]

GM went so far as to argue locking people out helps innovation. That’s like saying locking up books will inspire kids to be innovative writers, because they won’t be tempted to copy passages from a Hemingway novel. Meanwhile, outside of Bizarroland, actual technology experts—including the Electronic Frontier Foundation—have consistently labeled the DMCA an innovation killer. They insist that, rather than stopping content pirates, language in the DMCA has been used to stifle competition and expand corporate control over the life (and afterlife) of products.
Designed specifically for modern tractors, the Midmount 2000 Series provides enhanced visibility, increased lifting capability and superior breakout force. The Midmount 2000 Series provides easier access for service, more clearance for tractors with front wheel assist and extra room for front mounted fenders. Mechanical true self-leveling is available on models 2495 to 2895.
The chains and sprockets are located inside the frame, in a sealed compartment. They are immersed in an oil bath that keeps them lubricated. Each drive sprocket is connected to a hub via a short shaft. The shaft passes through several seals before connecting to the hub, which holds the wheel.

A swingloader is a rigid frame loader with a swinging boom. The boom can swing 180 degrees or more. Swingloaders are primarily used by the railroad industry to lay rail. Like other loaders many attachments can be attached to the boom such as magnets, forks, and buckets. Smaller swingloaders are used in farming applications for loading out. A swinging boom is advantageous where space limited. The loader is able to lift on all sides and dump off on all sides.

The major components included in a loader are the engine (diesel in almost all cases), the hydraulic components (such as pumps, motors and valves) and the transmission components (gearbox, axles, wheels/tracks, pumps, motors, etc.). The engine runs both the hydraulics and the transmission, and these in turn move the front attachment (a bucket, forks, sweeper, etc.) to manipulate the material which we are handling (sand, gravel, cereal, manure or anything else) and the wheels or tracks to move the machine around the jobsite.
The huge inventory of heavy machinery on eBay makes it incredibly easy to find a product that suits your needs. Consider a small, tracked Bobcat for construction work in confined spaces, or choose a wheeled Caterpillar if you move between sites frequently and don’t want to invest in a flatbed for transportation. In 1989, Deere replaced the 6620, 7720, and 8820 with a new line of completely redesigned ‘Maximizer’ combines that included the 9400, 9500, and 9600 walker combines. These combines were completely redesigned and featured a center-mounted cab, rear-mounted engine, and more comforts in the cab. Also in 1989, Deere was inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame. In 1997, Deere celebrated 50 years of self-propelled combine production, and the 1997 models featured a 50th-anniversary decal. In 1998, the 9410, 9510, and 9610 were introduced. These were essentially the same machines, but with minor upgrades. Deere dealers offered ’10 series’ upgrades to owners of older 9000 series Maximizer combines. In 1999, Deere introduced the 50 series Maximizer combines. These machines featured significant cosmetic upgrades including a more streamlined appearance, improved ergonomics in the cab, PTO shaft-style header hook-up, and the larger models were available as rotary machines which were a complete departure from the combines that Deere had built in the past.[37]

Before the 1990s, all excavators had a long or conventional counterweight that hung off the rear of the machine to provide more digging force and lifting capacity. This became a nuisance when working in confined areas. In 1993 Yanmar launched the world’s first Zero Tail Swing excavator,[9] which allows the counterweight to stay inside the width of the tracks as it slews, thus being safer and more user friendly when used in a confined space. This type of machine is now widely used throughout the world.

What does any of that have to do with copyright? Owners, tinkerers, and homebrew “hackers” must copy programming so they can modify it. Product makers don’t like people messing with their stuff, so some manufacturers place digital locks over software. Breaking the lock, making the copy, and changing something could be construed as a violation of copyright law.
The two main sections of an excavator are the undercarriage and the house. The undercarriage includes the blade (if fitted), tracks, track frame, and final drives, which have a hydraulic motor and gearing providing the drive to the individual tracks, and the house includes the operator cab, counterweight, engine, fuel and hydraulic oil tanks. The house attaches to the undercarriage by way of a center pin. High pressure oil is supplied to the tracks’ hydraulic motors through a hydraulic swivel at the axis of the pin, allowing the machine to slew 360° unhindered.[8]

A skid loader is a small loader utilizing four wheels with hydraulic drive that directs power to either, or both, sides of the vehicle. Very similar in appearance and design is the track loader, which utilizes a continuous track on either side of the vehicle instead of the wheels. Since the expiration of Bobcat’s patent on its quick-connect system, newer tractor models are standardizing that popular format for front end attachments.

A swinging boom is advantageous where space is limited. The loader is able to lift on all sides and dump off on all sides.

Komatsu mini-excavators share many of the features of Komatsu’s mid-size excavators. But more importantly, these mini’s are constructed like their bigger brothers to handle the demands of construction work rather than the light duty some of the competition is designed for. Climb on one of these mini’s and you’ll fall in love with the comfort, big excavator features, versatility and especially the work they can produce. You’ll find that mini refers only to their size not what they can achieve.

George Jones famously drove a John Deere lawn tractor to a liquor store after his wife had taken away his car keys to keep him from driving drunk. The incident was later memorialized as part of country music lore in numerous songs and videos, including Jones’ own “Honky Tonk Song” in 1996. Twelve years earlier, the video for Hank Williams Jr.’s “All My Rowdy Friends Are Coming Over Tonight” featured George Jones riding a lawnmower. Vince Gill’s 1993 hit “One More Last Chance” includes the line, “She might have took my car keys, but she forgot about my old John Deere.” The video ends with Gill on a John Deere tractor passing Jones on a John Deere lawnmower. The video for John Rich’s “Country Done Come to Town” also features Jones on a riding lawnmower.[53]

The construction of roads, bridges, driveways and other surfaces requires the use of heavy equipment to create pavement and compact earth. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that the average annual income of paving, surfacing and tamping equipment operators was $39,500 as of May 2011. Workers in the occupation made $18.99 an hour on average. The top 10 percent of paving, tamping and surfacing operators made more than $64,610 a year and the bottom 10 percent earned less than $23,720.

Excavator thumbs are as handy as a pocket on a shirt. Rockland pioneered the use of thumbs on hydraulic excavators, and today, Rockland hydraulic thumbs offer more value than any other thumb on the market. Only Rockland hydraulic thumbs offer sealed and lubricated pins, cylinder rod guards, and a thumb lock to eliminate down drift.
JCB was founded in 1945 by Joseph Cyril Bamford, after whom it is named; it continues to be owned by the Bamford family. In the UK, India, and Ireland, the word “JCB” is often used colloquially as a generic description for mechanical diggers and excavators and now appears in the Oxford English Dictionary, although it is still held as a trademark.[4]

Loaders are used mainly for loading materials into trucks, laying pipe, clearing rubble, and digging. A loader is not the most efficient machine for digging as it cannot dig very deep below the level of its wheels, like a backhoe can. The capacity of a loader bucket can be anywhere from 0.5 to 36 m3[1] depending upon the size of the machine and its application. The front loader’s bucket capacity is generally much bigger than a bucket capacity of a backhoe loader.

In 1973, Deere introduced its new tractors, the 4030, 4230, 4430, and 4630. While these tractors were mechanically similar to the New Generation tractors they replaced, and the 4230, 4430, and 4630 used a 404-cubic-inch displacement engine like the 4020, they featured redesigned sheet metal and most importantly they were available with an optional completely integrated operator’s cab that John Deere called the Sound Gard body. This insulated cab that included a roll-over protective structure had a distinctive rounded windshield and came equipped with heat and air conditioning, as well as speakers for an optional radio. An 8-track tape player was also available as an option. The 5020 was replaced by the very similar 6030 and continued in production with New Generation styling until 1977 when the 30 Series tractors were replaced by Deere’s ‘Iron Horses’ series that included the 90-hp 4040, 110-hp 4240, 130-hp 4440, 150-HP 4640, and 180-hp 4840. The 4240, 4440, 4640, and 4840 featured a new 466-cubic-inch displacement engine, and improvements to the cab including an optional hydraulic seat for a smoother ride. The Sound Gard body and Power Shift transmission were standard equipment on the 4840.

During World War II, the great-grandson of John Deere, Charles Deere Wiman, was president of the company, but he accepted a commission as a colonel in the U.S. Army. A replacement was hired and before returning to work at the company in late 1944, Wiman directed the farm machinery and equipment division of the War Production Board.[10] In addition to farm machinery, John Deere manufactured military tractors, and transmissions for the M3 tank. They also made aircraft parts, ammunition, and mobile laundry units to support the war effort.[11]

The main takeaway here is, beware of what appears to be a cheap tractor with loader. The new loader may cost more than the whole package is worth and you might have been better off to have kept looking for the tractor/loader combo for a little more money.

Abram Dietrich Thiessen of Eyebrow Saskatchewan in the 1940s built the first quick attach front end loader. International Harvester’s took a picture of the loader and replicated it at the Regina Agribition in November of the same year.

The company produced its first combine harvester, the John Deere No. 2, in 1927. A year later, this innovation was followed up by the introduction of John Deere No. 1, a smaller machine that was more popular with customers. By 1929, the No. 1 and No. 2 were replaced by newer, lighter-weight harvesters. In the 1930s, John Deere and other farm equipment manufacturers began developing hillside harvesting technology. Harvesters now had the ability to effectively use their combines to harvest grain on hillsides with up to a 50% slope gradient.[8]

Discussion: Operators should be keenly aware of the position of workers when using a front-end loader, and make sure they do not enter the dangerous areas in front or under the loader. Operators should also be aware of loader geometry, knowing that the loader bucket will move forward considerably while being raised from ground level, especially on an incline. This specific hazard, as presented in Figure 1, should be emphasized in safety training and educational literature. When working in an open area, this movement may not be a significant safety issue, but in close quarters, forward movement of the bucket is potentially dangerous. Also, when raised quickly, a loader with a heavy load momentarily reduces the weight on the rear wheels and may cause slipping, especially if weight is already increased on the front wheels due to forward sloping terrain. This can be very significant, since most tractors have brakes only on the rear wheels. It is also hazardous to keep the transmission in a forward gear, when people are working near the bucket. If the operator’s foot would slip off the clutch pedal, dangerous forward movement of the tractor would occur. When the tractor is on an incline, as in this case, it would be better to have the transmission in park or in a reverse gear, so that in case of malfunction or operator error, the tractor will stay in place or move backwards, away from the workers.
The farmer was operating the tractor which had a front-end loader bucket half-filled with gravel. The tractor was situated on an 18-degree slope pointing downward with the edge of the bucket about three feet away from the foundation. His wife and son were standing in front of the bucket, next to the foundation, holding down drainage tile with their feet. The son was shoveling gravel off the tractor bucket in front of them, covering the tile.

Established in 1890, the Kubota Corporation has a long history of manufacturing agricultural machinery in Japan. With an excellent line of compact tractors, necessary on smaller Japanese farms, Kubota entered the North American market in 1969.
While the front-end loaders on CUT size tractors are capable of many tasks, given their relatively small size and low capacities when compared to commercial loaders, the compact loaders can be made more useful with some simple options. A toothbar is commonly added to the front edge of a loader bucket to aid with digging. Some loaders are equipped with a quick coupler, otherwise known as a quick attach (QA) system. The QA system allows the bucket to be removed easily and other tools to be added in its place. Common additions include a set of pallet forks for lifting pallets of goods or a bale spear for lifting hay bales.
Unlike in a conventional front loader, the lift in these machines are alongside the driver with the pivot points behind the driver’s shoulders. Because of the operator’s proximity to moving booms, early skid loaders were not as safe as conventional front loaders, particularly during entry and exit of the operator. Modern skid loaders have fully enclosed cabs and other features to protect the operator. Like other front loaders, it can push material from one location to another, carry material in its bucket or load material into a truck or trailer.

Hydraulic excavators usually couple engine power to (commonly) three hydraulic pumps rather than to mechanical drivetrains. The two main pumps supply oil at high pressure (up to 5000 psi) for the arms, swing motor, track motors and accessories while the third is a lower pressure (~700 psi) pump for pilot control of the spool valves; this third circuit allows for reduced physical effort when operating the controls. Generally, the 3 pumps used in excavators consist of 2 variable displacement piston pumps and a gear pump. The arrangement of the pumps in the excavator unit changes with different manufacturers using different formats.

Prior to World War II, Henry Zimmerer became a retail Case tractor dealer in Gainesville, Texas.  With the coming of World War II which led to a shortage of tractors and equipment to sell, Henry went back to full time farming. After the war, Henry, Vincent, and Bruno formed “Zimmerer Bros.” Comprised of three farms totaling approximately 1300 acres, they specialized in three main harvests: small grain, hay and beef cattle. They took great pride in the quality of their hay. They became the supplier of bedding straw and feed for the Fort Worth Stock Show.

For the skid steer loader, each side of the machine is powered by a hydraulic motor. Each of the two motors (one for each side) connects to a sprocket, and each sprocket is connected by two chains to each wheel. The sprockets and chains serve two purposes: They distribute the power from a single hydraulic motor to both wheels, and they provide a gear reduction to increase the torque at the wheels.

Presently, the largest loader in the world is called the LeTourneau L-2350. This machine, produced in Texas, has a diesel propulsion system, and each wheel has a separate electric motor. These machines are reserved for large industrial jobs that cannot be completed with a regular loader. In addition to construction loaders, snowplows also fit within the “loader” category. Since snowplows have a large trough-like bucket, a large amount of torque, and independent arms, these machines can be considered loaders. Snowplows can also come in the form of an attachment that can be adhered to the front of a truck in order to remove snow from residential areas.

In addition to the name tractor loader, these machines may also be called front loaders, skip loaders, shovels, front end loaders, and payloaders. A loader has a square appearance, a large bucket that is capable of scooping up debris, and two mechanical arms that allow the machine to move with efficiency. Loaders usually have large wheels, though some loaders are build upon tracks.

A swinging boom is advantageous where space is limited. The loader is able to lift on all sides and dump off on all sides.

Tractor front loaders are devices which are broadly similar to the scoops of diggers, and can be attached to tractors. A tractor front end loader is useful in everyday agricultural machinery activities such as carrying and loading hay baler. A tractor with front end loader is a useful piece of equipment on a farm where large objects are transported on a regular basis.

Not only are your hands covered in blisters and your clothes covered in dirt, but you have a lot more dirt to dig than you realized. Save yourself some time and effort by investing in a mini excavator. A mini excavator is not a one-trick pony, and you quickly realize all of the jobs you can accomplish with it including removing concrete, leveling landscapes, digging trenches, harvesting and planting trees, as well as many other tasks. You may have heard the term Bobcat floating around as a generic term for mini excavators, but Bobcat is a well-known brand name of excavators, which harbor a respectable reputation of quality and durability and, like other models, feature auxiliary hydraulic systems for ease of use. Caterpillar excavators are also well-known and highly regarded in the industry and feature a large range of bucket sizes, as do other brands, so you can use a 12-inch to 22-inch and larger bucket to best meet your excavation needs. Mini excavators work well in a variety of applications and their compact size makes it easy to reach tight spaces on your property. With the large inventory available on eBay, you can get started on your first of many tasks before you know it.
On August 30, 1960, John Deere dealers from around the world converged on Dallas, Texas, for an unprecedented product showcase. Day in Dallas, as the event was called, introduced the world to the “New Generation of Power”, the company’s first modern four-cylinder and six-cylinder tractors, during a day packed with high-tech presentations, live demonstrations, and a parking lot full of brand-new green and yellow machines. The line of tractors introduced that day was five years in the making, and the event itself took months to plan. Deere chose Dallas to host the event partly because it was home to facilities large enough to accommodate the 6,000 guests and the equipment they were all there to see. The Dallas Memorial Auditorium, the Texas State Fairgrounds Coliseum, the Cotton Bowl, and the Cotton Bowl parking lot were each the site of part of the event. During the event, a new John Deere tractor with a diamond-covered nameplate was displayed for all to see inside Neiman-Marcus, a popular Dallas-based department store.

According to information released by the company at the time of the event, John Deere dealers and key employees came to Dallas via the “largest commercial airlift of its type ever attempted.” During the 24 hours leading up to the event, 16 airlines brought Deere employees and sales people from all over the United States and Canada to Love Field in Dallas. Bill Hewitt, then chairman and CEO of Deere & Company, welcomed the dealers and introduced the new tractors. Hewitt told the guests they were about to see “a line of entirely new tractors – completely modern in every respect – with outstanding features not duplicated in any other make of tractor.”
Engineered with convenience and ruggedness in mind, Woods Loaders are perfect for commercial landscaping jobs or around the farm or ranch. The mid-attaching loader boom provides optimal visibility and maneuverability for those tight places. The wrench-less, two-pin mid-attach mount system offers greater flexibility for your tractor. The unique 4-bar bucket linkage allows a 35-degree bucket roll-back angle for less material loss and a 50-degree bucket dump angle to ensure complete emptying. And Woods Front-end Loaders can be painted to match almost any tractor brand – completing your professional look.
Unlike most bulldozers, most loaders are wheeled and not tracked, although track loaders are common. They are successful where sharp edged materials in construction debris would damage rubber wheels, or where the ground is soft and muddy. Wheels provide better mobility and speed and do not damage paved roads as much as tracks, but provide less traction.
Pile-driver operators use pile-driving equipment to create support columns used to construct buildings, bridges and other structures. The Bureau of Labor Statistics states that pile-driver operators earned $52,140 a year and $25.07 an hour on average as of May 2011. The top 10 percent of workers made more than $84,840 and the bottom 10 percent earned less than $26,720. Fifty percent of pile-driver operators made between $34,810 and $67,440 a year.
